marriage ceremony and reception of an amazing couple at the Surf Club in New Rochelle.  It proved to me, once again, why Westchester weddings rock!

Why do I say that?  Let me count the ways…

The Surf Club is beautiful, with panoramic views of the Long Island Sound from both the first and second floor.  Though the couple’s ceremony was forced indoors due to rain, you can get married right on the beach.  The view is unbelievable!

The facility itself was immaculate, with elegant arching stairways and marble floors.  Perfect for an unforgettable wedding reception.

The staff was professional, friendly and attentive.  I can’t say that about the staff of other Westchester weddings we’ve attended.  (They don’t say New Yorkers have an attitude for nothing, you know.)  But these guys were top notch.  They treated Jeff and I with the utmost respect and courtesy.  It was a pleasure working with them!

Our couple was able to personalize their wedding experience by incorporating a Chinese tea ceremony, photo montages, singing performances and even a live Skype toast!  The staff of the Surf Club didn’t bat an eye; everything went as smoothly as you could imagine.

I walked away with a warm feeling about the Surf Club and we’re looking forward to working there again!

Why I Love Westchester Weddings

There are so many advantages to planning a wedding in Westchester, NY that I could fill up this blog many times over.  Okay, I might be exaggerating a trifle, but there are certainly a ton of features that make it one of the coolest spots in the entire country to get married in.

First, it’s close to New York City.  The Big Apple is a hot spot for tourists, which means your out of town guests will love the opportunity to explore the city’s delights.  (We call it “The City” here in the Hudson Valley.  Everyone just knows we’re talking about New York City.  What other city is there?)

Because we’re so close to the city, you’ll have access to the most creative and artistic wedding professionals you can imagine.  Some of them come with a NYC price tag, but you can also find extremely talented photographers and entertainers who are newer or who may adjust their pricing just for a change to add one of the numerous fabulous Westchester wedding venues to their portfolio.

The variety of wedding locations in Westchester is simply astounding.  You’ve got castles, historic manors, gardens, art museums and theaters.  City chic meets country elegance in Westchester County, which gives you the best of both worlds for your wedding.

And we can’t forget the water!  Tarrytown, New York boasts some of the most gorgeous river views from a vantage point high in the valley.  The venues in New Rochelle on what’s known as “Wedding Row” offer wedding ceremonies and photo ops right on the Long Island Sound.  Fresh water or salt water, there’s nothing like a wedding on the shore and romantic strolls at sunset to make your day perfection.

Transportation for your guests is convenient and abundant.  You’ve got trains from the city traveling to points north and airports that fly across the country.  Your wedding guests will thank you for making travel easy and still giving them the opportunity for a country getaway in Westchester.
